Safari!!!

Heading out on safari! This is overlooking Tarangire National Park on the first day of a three day long game drive. This land is completely protected and uninhabited by humans. We also visited Lake Manyara and Ngorongoro Crater. The Maasai are the only people who can live full time at Ngorongoro Crater because the land has belonged to them for centuries. They live side by side with the wildlife and I learned that they are so respected by the lions that if they are bringing their cattle down to the watering hole... the lion will give them the right of way. My guide told me a Maasai shooing way a lion is like us shooing away a dog... no big deal.

ELEPHANTS!!!

GIRAFFES!

BABOONS!!!

I met these boys in a town called Mto Wa Mbu which translates to Mosquito River. They were awesome, my new rafikis... I gave them oranges and they were psyched. I love this picture!

Keep us all posted - I can't believe what an
spectacular adventure you're on (let's not see
you trying to "shoo away any lions" though, k?).

    Much love and awe,
